Der Österreichische Fotograf Reiner Riedler befasst sich mit einem Tabu-Thema ohne Leiden abzubilden und ohne Menschen, die sich in schwierigen Lebenssituationen befinden zu kompromittieren. Aus der alltäglich Umgebung isoliert tauchen vor tiefschwarzem Hintergrund medizinische Apparaturen auf und werden in ihrer Funktion, ihrer Ästhetik und überirdischen Schönheit neu interpretiert. Sei es die raumschiffartige CT Apparatur oder die klobige Dialyse Maschine: die Bilder regen zum Nachdenken über Krankheit und Verlängerung des Lebens an.

The Austrian photographer Reiner Riedler make accessible a taboo topic without depicting any suffering, and without compromising people in difficult circumstances. Propped against a black background and isolated from the context in which they’re used, we get to see clinical instruments in a new light, and get to explore their function, their aesthetics, and their unearthly beauty. From the spaceship-like CT machine to the clunky dialysis machines, this project is a thoughtful meditation on illness and the prolongation of life. It is a visual study of breaking points in medical science and human will.
